Can you believe that a "prim and proper" brand like Woolworths paid TheAntsNest.com to do Graffiti in Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton?!?!? Yes, we were amazed too!
In the campaign (which was the brain child of CherryFlava Media) Woolworths decided to go underground and alternative in their quest to build hype, leading up to the launch of their latest in-house clothing brand called "TWIST".
The crux of the campaign consisted of an online Blogging/writing competition between 6 of South Africa`s top female blog site authors.
What made the campaign so different and alternative was that the blog competition would feature fictional stories that "somehow" manifested from cyberspace into the real world!
And this is where TheAntsNest.com/Graffiti Ants got involved!
One of the Bloggers (Laurian Clemence - Mushy Peas On Toast) wrote that she was a chalk drawing artist and about her love for the London Underground Tube System.
The next thing you know, there was a huge, realistic 3D chalk drawing of the London Underground in the middle of Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton, Johannesburg!
The task for our Graffiti Ants was to throw up a huge chalk drawing without anyone seeing it being done!
Now, large scale 3D chalk drawing is definitely NOT a quick process - especially when you`re working in the dark! Nevertheless 3 of our Graffiti Ants were able to fulfil the brief between dusk and dawn!
It was a tough job - but the result was fantastic!
